Student Veterans-North Carolina

Legislation
Program allows nonresident military veterans living in North Carolina to pay lower-priced in-state tuition at the state’s community colleges and public universities instead of expensive out-of-state rates.

SB 251 would provide the in-state residency waiver. Currently in committee.

North Carolina In-State Tuition for Non-Resident Service Members:
Any member of the Armed Services qualifying for admission to an institution of higher education, but not qualifying as a resident for tuition purposes shall be charged the in-state tuition rate for enrollments while a member of Armed Services in the state.

North Carolina National Guard Tuition Assistance:
Up to $2,000.00 per year.
Eligibility: North Carolina National Guard service member.
