Student Veterans-North Dakota

Legislation
North Dakota century code 15-10-19.1 provides veterans who served on active duty for no less than 180 days and who were discharged or released under other than dishonorable conditions is a resident student for tuition purposes.  The code also applies to spouses and dependents who are eligible to receive benefits under the Post 9-11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008.

North Dakota National Guard Tuition Waiver:
Any qualifying member of the National Guard who enrolls in any state-controlled school, shall, subject to National Guard rules promulgated by the adjutant general, receive a waiver of the tuition charged by the school.
Eligibility: The tuition waiver is valid only so long as the member of the National Guard maintains satisfactory performance with the guard, meets the qualification requirements of rules promulgated by the adjutant general, and pursues a course of study in a manner which satisfies the normal requirements of the school.

North Dakota National Guard Tuition Assistance/Grants Act:
Up to 100% tuition assistance for the basic tuition cost (no additional fees). Payment will be made directly to the student in the form of reimbursement, upon receipt of the student’s transcripts. The amount of reimbursement is based on the financial aid available to the student.
Eligibility: National Guard service member.

North Dakota National Guard Educational Benefit:
Students receive $500.00 per semester plus the college reimburses the student for up to 25% of a benchmark state university tuition rate.
Eligibility: Army National Guard service member.
